Wristband Collection

You will be able to collect your wristband from any of our Check In Desks located across the intu Metrocentre on the night of the event

We will have 3 wristband collection points set up across intu Metrocentre;

1. Exhibition Square (outside Primark)

Desk Open 3pm - 9pm

2. Blue Zone (By transport interchange)

Desk Open 3pm - 9pm

3. Town Square (Outside House of Fraser)

Desk Open 3pm - 9pm

You are welcome to collect your wristband from any of these desks.

Please remember to bring your E-Ticket and Student ID along with you on the night.

By car

Directions: Situated just off the A1, intu Metrocentre is easily accessible.

Shoppers visiting intu Metrocentre in the evening to take advantage of leisure facilities and restaurants should park in either the Yellow or Blue car parks.

From the South:

  • Travel along the A1(M) northbound
  • From the A1 Washington Services (Birtley) keep left at junction 65 and continue on A1 (signs for A1 Gateshead, Newcastle)
  • Continue on A1 (Gateshead/Newcastle Western Bypass) for approx 6 miles
  • Exit left at junction 71 (signs for Metrocentre) and turn right onto Hollinside Road
  • Continue through traffic lights towards Metrocentre.

From the North:

  • Join the A1 southbound towards Newcastle and Gateshead (signs for The South A1M, Gateshead)
  • Cross over the River Tyne
  • Continue on A1 until you see exit sign for Metrocentre at junction 71.

By bus

We have our very own bus station at intu Metrocentre, accessed through the Blue mall. There is an information kiosk available for all timetable and journey plan queries, sales of Network One passes and Go North East tickets.

Over 100 buses an hour serve the bus station, with fast and convenient links from/to Newcastle city centre and Gateshead Interchange for connections across Tyne & Wear. Buses also run to County Durham (Consett and Stanley) and Northumberland (Hexham and Prudhoe). These are operated by

Go North East's service X66 runs every 7-8 minutes during the daytime, proving fast and frequent links from/to Gateshead Interchange.

Stagecoach North East's service 100 runs every 7-8 minutes during the daytime, providing an express link from/to Newcastle (Monument, Blackett Street).

Go North East's service S1 runs every 15 minutes between 0830-1900 providing a one-way circular service calling at all four mall entrances, the Metro Retail Park, Gala Bingo, Asda and Ikea.

By train 

Metrocentre (National Rail): The station is directly connected to the centre, accessed through the Blue mall.

It takes just 7-10 minutes by train from Newcastle Central station. During the daytime, trains run every 15 minutes on Monday-Saturdays and every 20 minutes on Sundays, less frequently during evenings.

Train services run to and from a number of further locations:

  • Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe (approx. hourly through the day)
  • Along the Tyne Valley to Hexham (half-hourly) and Carlisle (hourly)
  • Cramlington and Morpeth (approx. hourly through the day)
By Metro 

The Tyne & Wear Metro is just a bus ride away. Buses connect intu Metrocentre with the Metro at Gateshead (X66), Monument and Central stations (100), in around 10-15 minutes.

Metro connections with the National Rail network are available at Newcastle Central, Heworth, Manors and Sunderland stations.

A transfare ticket on the Metro system will allow transfer from the metro to any bus or train to complete your journey to intu Metrocentre.

By bike 

intu Metrocentre is located on the National Cycle Network and also has a shared use cycleway/footpath which runs around the outside of the Centre. There is covered secure cycle parking at each mall entrance and also at the entrance to House of Fraser.

By taxi 

Free phones are available in the Centre for your return home and are located at the entrances to: green, red and yellow malls, Public Transport Interchange, Coach park and at Customer Services Desks. Pick up the phone at these locations and you will automatically be connected to the taxi control centre.
